Silent Crankbaits

Featured Replies

Hello I am new to this so I hope it works lol.  I am looking for shallow running crankbaits (1-4 ft) that do not rattle.  I have had very good success with balsa baits but am tired of replacing them.  I have looked at some like the Lucky Craft baits but am not really willing to pay the price.  If anyone can help me locate some silent plastic alternatives I would really appreciate it.

The Lucky Craft RC series which you might have looked at comes in a silent version and is an excellent bait, you mentioned that it was out your price range. The usual price is app $15, but if you wait they usually have them on sale a couple of times each year for app. $ 10, hopefully that fits the budget.

Thanks Primus.  That works for me.  Does not make sense I know that I replace worm baits that add up to way more than one Lucky Craft, but I just find it hard to do.  I just hope they go on sale before opener up here lol.

I was looking for the same thing a while back and someone suggested making your own by drilling a small hole in the rattle chamber(s) add a some super glue and there ya go.  I've tried it with some of the Academy H20 baits.  Works like a champ.

I think you won't be disapointed in the RC'S if you try one. Hopefully when there is another sale someone will post this which is how I found out about the last one. I would suggest the 1.5 size in a couple of colors that you have coinfidence in.

My most productive shallow, silent crankbait is the Shallow Shad Rap.

BPS is advertising the Rick Clunn Signature crankbaits for $11.94 during their Classic Sale starting this Friday.

Falcon

Rapala Shallow Shad Rap - generally goes 406 feet but with some mono it will run shallow

Strike King 4S - Great square bill shallow wood cover lure

Bomber Model B - Fat body wide wobble 0-3 feet

Rapala JSR-4 - great wounded bait 4 to 6 feet but with mono will run shallower

Bomber FF Shad Guppy - 4-6 but with mon will run shallower

Wow, thanks guys for all the great advice and suggestion.  Dont know why I have not signed up for this a long time ago lol.  I have thought about drilling and glueing the rattles but have been scared that the bait would be unbalanced and ruined after.  Any of you guys have any experience with this?  Also I have been looking for a flipping bait and have noticed Mann's Sting Ray grubs.  It seems to me they would work for this application.  If anyone has any thought on this I am all ears.  Is there a limit to how many questions I can post and should I have started another post for the flipping question?  Sorry guys I am so now to this lol.
