what is the best kind of rod, reel, and line to use when bass fishing?

I would start out with a spinning outfit... Rod 6'6" - 7' MF with a size 2500 reel spooled with some 15# braid.

I agree, except I would personally recommend mono over braid for a beginner. I just feel like there's a little less worry about with mono for someone who is a green newby. I would look into buying something like an Abu Garcia Cardinal spinning combo spooled with 8-10 lb Trilene XL. It will be a good starting point but not break the bank just in case you find you don't like fishing as much as many of us do :respect-059: . Then grab a couple packs of senko worms, some hooks and go catch bass! :fishing1:
