Was just curious on what all of your opinions are on the float and jig set up. Was thinking bout getting small small jigs like 1/16 or 1/32 to catch the small perch in local ponds with some megastrike on em. Do the bigger ones work good for bass or pickerel? Any one use this often? I think it'll be good way to get bait fish (perch) since they bite anything.

Are you talking about a float and fly?  Research float and fly - it is a cool/cold weather approach for smallmouth on clear highland reservoirs.  Maybe it will adapt to your locale.  Call up In-Fisherman magazine and talk to an editor.  It seems to me that several years ago they were doing quite a bit of research fishing, suspending jigs from floats for different species.

My son catches a ton of small bass and panfish in small ponds on float and tiny 1/16 maribou jigs.
