Glx Flipping Stick Question

Featured Replies

GLX 829C FPR specifically.

I bought this rod with the intention of making it my main jig(1/2oz+)/ heavy t-rig rod. I couldn't find the older model jig/worm GLX in a length longer than 7'1", hence the reason I went with the new flipping series in 7'5". I rarely flip, mostly pitch/cast, but again wanted the added length so I went with this rod

Long story short, fished with it for the first time tonight and it just seems flat out heavy and not as sensitive as my 6'6" imx or my 6'8" Loomis nrx.

Since it was labeled as a "flipping" rod, I'm thinking it's much more stout than other 7'5"+ rods across the board, but am I wrong? Does the added length of a mod 7' rod call for a much thicker/heavier backbone, or is it this way because it's a flipping stick specifically? By the way the rod in question is 7'5" MH F.

I've never owned a rod over 7', they may all be this way. I just need to be told so if thats the case.

I only have a few days to return the rod, so I'm trying to figure something out quick.

Hope this makes some kind of sense...

Thx in advance folks

Meant to say,

"Does the added length of a 7 1/2+' rod call for a much thicker/heavier backbone, or is it this way because it's a flipping stick specifically?"
