Hello everyone, I am getting a new reel soon for bass fishing, and I have narrowed my options down to the Abu Garcia Revo sx, and the Revo s. I like both of these reels, but what one is better in your opinion? I know the s has a centrifugal brake, and the sx has a magnetic brake. Also, the Revo s says it has a "pitch" cent brake. What is this? How do you adjust a cent brake and how do you adjust a pitch cent brake?

P.S. It will most likely be paired up with either a Veritas or Vandetta (Gen 2)

I would get the S, cent brakes are just better all around for various weighted baits. The mag only systems can be finicky to adjust when changing to a different bait. Cent you can just set 2-3 brakes, and make minor adj with the spool tension knob.

There are inner and outer brakes that are spring loaded.

From what I've gathered, pitch brakes are for heavier lures, lures you would use when pitching and flipping. The other brakes are more for your standard applications. I don't do much pitching/flipping so my gen2 revo s has one pitch and one "normal" brake on and I can cast 1/2oz spinnerbaits between 1 - 1.5 miles. For real though, I can sling a lure out there with that reel. I love it.

what he said. The SX is a finnicky reel if your a newcomer to bait casting. I have not had any backlash problems. But if you are new to baitasting, the S is for you.

The sx was finicky for me but I use more braking now(I was always set on it being on half previously). I loosen the spool tension a bit more and I can still cast a mile without the problems I had previously before making this discovery on my gen 2. Its been pretty much backlash free since. Mine is still smooth but I dont tend to beat up my gear even tho I fish alot.

I think that might be beyond what he is looking to spend. Obviously a great reel though.
