Going To Henderson/lake Mead Next Week....help

Featured Replies

We plan to fish a few days from the shore while down there. This is our first time at Mead and hitting stripers. I got some info from another forum and wanted to ask here to try and get even more info. This is basically what i've learned so far.

-bait is key. frozen anchovies/sardines on a live bait rig and carolina/drop shot rigged as well.

-Chum and lots of it. (don't want to spill that in our hotel room).

- larger (6-9") swimbaits in rainbow trout patterns. as the lake used to be stocked with them.

The weather appears like it will be in the mid 50's by day, 40's night. All fishing will be done from shore.

What other lures techniques do stripers go for? I'd like to get as much as i can before we leave, but plan to stop at a tackle shop in henderson to get frozen bait and any last minute things.

Striper love shad patterns. Rapala Shad Raps or storm shad swim baits. They are usually going after shad boils and love the early morning. The will bust on the top waters
