Waders

Featured Replies

I was thinking of picking up some waders and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.  Stockingfoot vs. Bootfoot?  Breathable? Neoprene vs. Nylon?  I have read all about the advantages and disadvantages of each but was wondering if any of the gurus on this board had specific opinions.  Thanks.

Breathable, stockingfoot and buy a good wading boot. If you are going to wear them alot, get breathable stocking foot. I used Hodgeman breathables for a longtime until I bought a pair of Orvis Pro-guides.

If you can afford it and do alot of bushwhacking to fish, get a tougher wader w/ knee pads. If not the basic breathables will do. But do not skimp on the boots. They will make or ruin your day.

Anyone have some experience with Hodgman?  Their LakeStream Lites are on sale for $49.99.

For me, it would depend on when you are planning on wearing them.  I only use them in the winter/spring and opted for neoprene stocking foot.  I like having the ability to use either felt-soled boots or lug-soled depending on the water I'm wading.

I have 3mm Bass Pro waders that are quite warm.

The only bad thing about neoprene is that they are quite easy to tear or puncture.
