Coming To Milwaukee In March, Bring The Gear?

Going to be in downtown Milwaukee March 20 - 23. Is it worth it to bring the gear? Won't have much free time ( 2-3 hours in the evening, maybe) curious if I might be able to be put on some fish in that little bit of time or if my gear should just stay home. Also private transportation will probably be non existent as I am riding up with my students. Let me know.

It appears I will be less than a half a mile from Pere Marquette park/ N riverwalk way and the Milwaukee river
