Squirrel Tail Worm

Featured Replies

Big Bite carries a Jeff Kriet series "Squirrel Tail Worm"; has anyone tried these, and if so, how did you rig them and did you have any success?

I think it is one of the best shakyhead worms out there.  I match the 4.5" Squirrel Tail worm on a Picasso 1/8 oz. jig head.  I rig it Texas style to get it weedless.  It has become my goto set-up this past year.  Though, I will warm you, you will lose a lot of tail sections from bluegills chomping down on them and you ripping it off from setting the hook.  Fortunately, they are not that expensive to replace.

They work well on beddin fish. *** has two new colors in the Squirrel Tail Worm....Eazy Money and Sexy Shad

I've had good luck with this worm so far. Right after snow and a lot of rain, we just had a couple days ranging in the 50-70's. A bad storm blew in this morning and cleared up by noon. I caught 14", 13" and 18" on a shaky head post front.

The fish didn't swim off with this worm. All three fish seemed to attack this worm with some hard strikes. I know it's just one day, but I'm very pleased with the results so far. Here's the pic of the 18".
