lake fork swimbaits.

Featured Replies

picked up a couple of these at wallworld . how do u fish them?

I just saw them for the first time today and was wondering the samething.

supplemental question: what weight are they?  I didn't see it listed on the package...... I didn't have my glasses on and stayed out too late last night so I am sure it was listed, just couldn't see it.  ::)

i fished some of the magic shad yesterday and the nose seems to rip up pretty easily, at least when using a jig head.  After about 20 minutes, they didn't really wanna stay up on the jighead like they were supposed to.  Maybe some soft bait glue will help it, but its an issue.  Other than that, they swim beautifully, look awesome.

I'd say the jighead is 1/4 oz...its not very heavy and by themselves they are pretty light...less than what a tiki stick or horny toad feels like.

No problem posting the link Doug.   :)

I think the singles that come with the jigheads have 1/8 oz. jigheads, but I'm not positive.

I feel stupid.  I didn't know what you were talking about at first.  I posted a picture of two that I bought earlier this year. I was going to wait until the Fork trip before I use them. I "heard" that a guy caught an 8 pounder on one. Just hear say.

I think these baits would be alot easier to fish rigged with a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook. I have the same thing but different brand name(Japanese Model). These are about a third of the price for a pack of four than the Japanese model. I was glad to see these offered by a U.S. dealer, alot easier on the wallet. :)

I've only fished them weightless over grass like a fluke or senko so far.  They look great in the water but have not got me any fish yet.  I think they would do well on a jig head or carolina rig too.  For those coming on the board trip the LFT store is only about 10 miles from the lake.  Just go west on 515 until the road ends in Emory.  On the other side of the intersection is the store.  They have some different sizes of the live magic shad available that they are not shipping yet.  There are tons of their baits for sale but the prices are the same as anywhere else.  There is a story on this bait that Mark Pack (LFT) guided some japanese anglers and allowed them to use some of the prototypes made from a bondo mold.  They took the ball and ran with it once they got home.

I picked up a couple tonite and didn't take them out of the package til i got home, I'm kinda worried about the tail section ripping off quickly on short strikes?  I hope to try them next week when the cold snap breaks! :)
