What's The Word On The Gen 3 Revo Sx?

Featured Replies

I have the new S and STX, and really like them both due to the fact that have centrifugal brakes/dual braking systems. In the past, I have disliked mag only reels which stemmed from my struggles with getting my Gen 2 SX dialed in. I know the brake system on the Gen 3 isn't the same as the Gen 2, so maybe it's easier to dial in, as my Black Max 2 has the same system and is easy for me to use. That being said, I have really had my eye on the new SX to add to my arsenal but I wanna know what the consensus is on it before I pull the trigger. How easy is it to get dialed in compared to the Gen 2 sx? Thanks.

i got myself one for christmas. Havent had a chance to really work it out for a full season. But i have taken it to a local small river to test out some homemade spinnerbaits and test the reel. Reel is very light and smooth. I didnt have any problem with backlashes. Havent tested out the drag yet. But well see how it does during a full season.

I've been casting mine in the back yard with practice plugs, trying to back lash it and it seems if you put the brake setting around seven (even though there are no numbers on the side, just imagine) it's not easy to back lash. Casts pretty darn nice! Actually I've found that even on my PQ, if I turn off cent brakes and use mag only I still have to put it around 7 for no back lash. These are for long casts mind you. If you are pitching, shoot you don't even need any brakes. Good luck. Awesome reel by the way. I have the new S also. Love them both.

I have one paired with a duckett micro magic and the combo is rediculously light. I have not caught a fish on the SX yet, but then again I didnt fish it often because I did not like left hand retrieve. I sent it back to TW and got it replaced with a right hand retrieve and I am going to put it on a rod today. I was able to cast jerk baits and Texas rigged worms easily. I would recommend getting one. Only thing is it took me about 25 minutes to get it tuned the way I wanted it. Mine is in a 6:4:1 ratio.
