No Luck Yet With Peacocks

Featured Replies

Been down here for over a year and still not luck with a peacock bass. I obviously am fishing in the wrong spots. I have 3 days off next week an I want to catch one. Any recommendations as to where I should go and what lures or soft plastics to use? I would prefer to stay in Broward but if I need to go to miami I will :). And I and stuck on the bank. :)

Hey, look on the bright side. At least you HAVE peacock bass where you are!!!

Shows I've seen always seem to have peacocks in canals down there.

Seems to me the farther south you go the more abundant they are. They are common in my area of pembroke pimes but it gets way better down south. They always like something moving fast. They turn their nose up at slow moving plastics(unless they are on a bed). Rapala x raps or any hard jerkbaits or cranks should do the trick. And when u do get nailed u will instantly know its not a LMB. hood luck!

Jerkbaits/Slashbaits fished hard and aggressive. Seems that the recent weather we've had has triggered a spawn in some of the southern Broward lakes. Saw some on beds today as well as some mated pairs cruising and courting. Looks like I might have lucked out this year and picked up some time off from work at the right time.

I actually just caught a smaller one all the way up in lake osborne 2 weeks ago. Was really suprized. As said above, plus they like live shiners from what Ive heard... about 3", and Ive gotten them on square bills and spinners too.

You should really check out "Urban Angler Miami" on FaceBook! This guys specialized in catching peacocks!

BTW, my brother spears he caught on in the canal behind my house last summer (a narrow canal) in Coral Springs :-/
