My brother is letting me pick one of these two reels. The PQ is about a year old and used just a few times and the Quantum is a few years old but again used just a few times.Which reel is better? Both are BC reels.

I have, probably same year, Accurists. They are good, but if I had the opportunity to go back in time, I'd have gone with the PQ. I think the PQ has better braking system. Just my .02.

I'd take the PQ over the Accurist.  Of course you didn't mention what the ratio were or what you were planning to use it for.  I'd definitely pick the PQ if it's the 6 to 1 or 7 to 1 if you want a general purpose reel.  The lower ratio 5 to 1 or 4 to 1 would be good if you are using for a crankin' rod.

I've got the QA 7.1:1 and it used to be my main BC until I bought a 7.1:1 Lexa.

 

I'm a major fan of the higher ratio. While I'd still get the PQ, the Accurist is not a bad reel.

Go with the quantam! Ive used this reel for countless years and it hasnt failed me yet...acctually just got done cleaning up an olllddd one I found, and that joker still runs like a top!

BP PQ hands down! Best reel for that price range no question. 

I have both. I prefer the PQ overall. However, if you have smallish hands, the Quantum may be the best choice for you since it is a little smaller overall and seems to be easier to palm.

Yes definitely go with the PQ.  Good all around reel at that ratio.

I'm a new angler but bought a PQ and am extremely happy with it. 

If it is the older model Accurist PT I would go with it over the PQ and I have both reels as well. That model of Accurist is built very well and my reel has been in service for a number of years without a problem. Gonna come down to a personal preference it seems.
