The first week in June Im going to escort my wife on business to Chelan. Staying right on the water and I can't think of passing up the fishing while she works. Ive researched it but everything seems kinda vague. This is as far away from my local Fl. fishing I think I've ever gotten to attempt. Can you guys give me some local advise? I just have 3 days so I'm hoping to just fish from shore at parks close by. Hoping for Smallmouth more than trout species. Thanks guys .......

Chelan can be tough from shore....there are some access points across the bay from Campbells resort that are rocky and hold some fish and also some of the marinas allow access but with gin clear water comes very spooky smart fish!! shakey head rigs lightly weighted and wacky rigged 4-5 inch green pumpkin Senkos can get them in as there are alot of schooled up pikeminnow fry at that time also a green pumpkin bitsy bug 1/8th ounce jig with a Zoom green pumpkin mini lizard trailer can be hopped around the rip rap.

We had a tournament there several years ago and we saw Smallies in 25 ft scouring the bottom for crayfish and when you threw a bitsy bug down to them they looked up at the boat....Knowing it was yours!!! we had to back off and make long casts and hope the wind would blow!!

Bring a heavy action rod and fling a 3/4 to 1oz football head with a hula grub or sweet beaver on it as far as possible out on the rocks. You should get bit. If not you can drive down to the columbia river, like 10min drive and thats pretty good fishing. Try finding a rocky point to cast out to

Or try fishing B.B. Bridge. It is dangerous, as water levels tend to fluctuate quickly because of the dam, but there's a ton of lmb and smb to be caught. Fish with Kalins grub (cant remember color was gray body with black flake) on a football head... Probably half oz. I loved bb bridge. Just remember to leave when ya start noticing the water is rising.
