Pike In New Hampshire

Featured Replies

I am starting some research , i want to catch a big Pike ,  I have never fished for them before, I plan on a trip to the CT river in Hinsdale as i am told this is the prime place.  What is the best time of year? Now ? Is it too early in the season? Should i wait till mid May?  Other than the CT river what would be my best other choices to try?  I live in Nashua so would be traveling from there. Should i be targeting weeds like i do for pickerel?  and largers lures i assume.

Now is a GREAT time.  My biggest pike have all come October through May.

Yeah, for pike, you wanna be out there now.

My friend fshes for pike on Champlain... Large swimbaits like sebile magic swimmer, slugos ( some guy caught a 16 or 17 pounder last year wiht a slugo in the CT around this year, saw it on onthewater.com), topwater plugs... I bet a rip bait would produce really well...

Champlain is your best bet. Hit the big coves and bays. Big swimbaits and/or the ole' reliable, the SwimWizz. As long as it's 5" or bigger, you'll get nailed by a big girl sooner or later. The ole' musky size Johnson Silver Minnow slow trolled through the bay weeds will get smashed! :)

need to stay in NH license,

Looking for a place as close to Nashua as possibly that hold Pike,  CT river is a haul , for me. Would be a full day trip for that. Hoping to go a few times. If CT river is my only choice then i will have to plan a day and give it a go.  Any other places anyone can think of in the state?  and i understand my chances might not be as good.

I think its spofford, I would have to check but I think there's pike in there...
