Alms & Rolex Sports Car Grand Am Series Joining

I know we have some road racing/sports car fans on here. What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

I was reading an article in the local paper about hometown Brumos leaving the series to see it shake down on the rules changes etc. Hurley Haywood was saying that the rules advantages will be to the Camaros and Ferraris and the number of competitors make it not favorable or even competitive for them to field a Porsche team. They will be taking a break and watch next year play out and may rejoin at a later date.

What affect will it have on Sebring and Petite?  Will European teams still show up, Sebring had little draw this year, start showing up once again?

Well ALMS has been going down hill for many years. Many factors play in to to why. The biggest to me has to be American motor sports fans. Followed by the market crash in 08. You all ready know my view on hard core NASCAR fans. So I will save that for a other day.

ALMS though are not the only ones fighting to get cars to show up. There are plenty of series all over Europe that have folded or joined. So its just not Americans that are killing motorsports. Motorsports tends to go through these little spells though. In the late 70's to the late 90's. It went though some thing like this around the world. What did we get out of it. We got some of the most exciting motor racing ever. The group b Rally cars and the group c LeMans cars.

In the end I think ALMS/Grand AM will be just fine. All the races are there for next year. So Sebring and Petite will have at lest one more year.

Hope good comes out of it. Glad to see the major races will stick next year.

I heard something about the Fiat touring series merging or combining with another but didn't catch all.

The group B rally cars were sick! guess there is light at the end of the tunnel.
