I am going to gate 31 at the Quabbin on Monday and plan on renting a boat for the day. Has anyone fished it yet this season? Any smallmouth activity yet? What are the chances that I get a boat on a Monday morning if I show up at 6 a.m.? Thanks in advance.

I haven't been there in a few years, but from what I see on another local board the fish are becoming active, both lakers and smallies.  With warm temps between now and Monday, the action should be there.  And I'm guessing you should be alright with the rental since it's not a weekend.

There's a couple of W.Mass members on this board who are on a first-name basis with most of the fish swimming around at the Q, so hopefully they will chime in with better info.

nhbassin, the post below is about my first trip to Quabbin this season:

I was out for 10 hours today but my thoughts are too windblown to make a coherent post tonight. Look for "Rocking and Ripping on Quabbin" tomorrow.

Weekdays you'll be fine renting a boat if you get to the gate at 6:00.
