I'd like to get some ideas on my first trip out this weekend. The water temp is just around 50 on a deep southern Wisconsin lake. What type of baits & techniques would you try? Ok guys give me some ideas.

spinnerbait. white/chart or bluegill pattern. usually I like either a combo double willow or small colorado with a larger willow. stained water double colorado and a dark pattern. 

 

lipless cranks work well too, so do poppers and small walk the dog lures. I dunno man they all work, too many to mention. Good Luck.

Deep and still not at that magic number yet, I am looking for main and secondary points depending on how fast the water is warming, but channels with the most water in the east to west locations would be my first considerations.

 

Deep is what the fish relate too for me, not how deep the lake itself is, so I am looking anywhere between 12 to 20 feet for some good vertical structure somewhere in that range with maybe a good channel bend in it somewhere or some good hump features with some good cover somewhere close.

 

Jerk Baits, Spoons, Jigs, DD cranks, Swim Baits, without knowing anything other than its deep and 50 degree water there is a lot of guess work here.

You are actually going out on lake Geneva on opening weekend? There are certainly better ways to not have fun fishing. Noodling for musky is one option that sounds more fun than Lake Geneva on opening weekend.
