Curious Bedding Bass Behavior

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I did a little bed fishing today and observed a few pairs of bass that were doing something rather interesting. They would turn on their side, one after another for a few minutes in a row, only stopping when the male chased off bluegills. Does anyone know what they were doing? Thanks.

That's mating behavior and it is uh, rather interesting for bass and humans alike. Humans can do it on their sides if they choose to. You, young man, won't have bluegill problems but you may have parent problems.

(Oh, forgive me, CPBassFishing - I  just  couldn't  resist.)

I thought this was how bass entice humans to mate with them, but I guess my mind is in the wrong end of the gutter......

the female was iether depositing her eggs or the male (smaller one) was spreading milt on the eggs.
