Police say a car dragged a man for about 4-miles before another motorist alerted the driver that the victim was under the vehicle.

The incident occurred Saturday on Richmond Road in James City County (home to the James and Chickahominy Rivers).

Police say the 31-year old victim and the driver were racing when the victim lost control of his car. The vehicle hydroplaned, spun several times and hit a tree. The victim was ejected.

The other car ran over the man and dragged him. The driver told police he thought he had run over debris from the wreck.

Police said the victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. No charges have been filed.

Now if this was not so serious it would be funny. How in the world do you 1) leave the scene of a serious accident and 2) think you are dragging some debris for four-miles and not stop the car and see what you are dragging?

I guess the driver was losing the race to the victim so he could have cared less.

Just thought you guys and gals would get a kick out this story.

doesn't surprise me with some of the drivers i see here in the metro richmond area....I can't believe someone who was ejected from their car after a wreck and then hit and dragged 4 miles is still alive albeit with serious injuries.

As they say, you can't fix stupid.

I'm wondering why it took 4 miles!!! Jeez
