My Luck Changing?

Went out with my BIL yesterday. We fished the dam on Logan Martin and a secret creek where the big fish play. After an hour fishing the dam with no luck we headed to the tackle shop, to get some bigger jig heads. The 1/4 ounce ones just were not get ting the bait down. We decided to go fish the creek before going back to the dam.

Once at the creek I was making my way around the bank. I slipped, feet over my head and landed half in the water with my butt in the mud. Figuring I'd make the best of the situation. I made my first cast while sitting in the mud. BOOM a seven lb large mouth slammed my lure. Three cast later I landed a 4 lb large mouth. Both were nice surprises seeing as we were fishing for stripe. Which were not hitting artificial lures in the creek yesterday. We fished the creek another hour then headed back to the dam.

I was fishing a seven inch white fluke on a one ounce jig head. (At the dam) When something slammed my lure. I would get twenty yards of line in and he would take thirty back out. I fought this fish for thirty minutes. A crowd had gathered up above and was watching. Not to mention the five fishermen that had come over to cheer me on. Another five minutes passed and mister fish wedged up in the rocks about thirty yards out from me. I tried hand lining him in while my BIL took up line. Alas the 25lb mono snapped with a bang. I almost cried. I got consolatory pats on the back kind words from the other fishermen. Then from the people watching from above as we headed back to the car thirty minutes later. I wish I could have landed that fish, but the fight was a blast. The fight was the highlight of my day/night.
