How To Get Sponsors

Featured Replies

Here is my latest article on the front page of this site.

If you are thinking about trying to get sponsors or just need to keep your current sponsors,

you probably need to read it.

Great read and thanks for the tips.

I currently have a soft plastics and silicone skirt sponsorship/pro staff agreement with two companies and it hasn't been easy. Jig and hardbait sponsorships are even harder to come by.

Any tips for standing out among the hundreds of teenagers looking for sponsors?

First off, thank you and you are welcome.  :)

In your Pro Staff deals, what kind of discount are you getting? Is it really worth it or is it mostly so you can be on a Pro Staff? What have you done for them so far?

You need to not put yourself in a category against other teens, you are competing against the

entire world when it comes to getting sponsors.

What is it that YOU do that makes you valuable to a company?

As you read in the article, a lot of companies like Wiley X are in global markets and

want someone that can help reach everyone. For me personally, I am teamed up with

media in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Sometimes media

in Russia, Brazil, Africa and a few other places run some of the stuff I do.

In reality, you are competing against me too. You need to figure out how you are going to beat me.

The actual fishing part of it is only a small portion of your worth. Think about it, even if you catch 5 fish over

10 lbs each per year, will that really help a company move product? Probably not.

Since I don't really know what it is that you do, I can't give you specifics about your approach.

if you want a bunch of good sponsors you need to learn good marketing...they are businesses and their goal is to make more money...if you dont make them more money then you arent worth anything to them...if they arent getting a good return on their investment then its just wasting resources they could put to better use

say you own this business that makes steering wheels and you make your steering wheels better than the place that makes them for ford...you need to show them why they should use your steering wheels and what benefits yours brings them over what they already have...is like you are a salesman pitching yourself you have to show them you are good for their company and that you can give them a good return on their investment

after all if they just gave everything away without getting good returns on their investments they would be out of business very quick
