Lews Tp Question Too Much Line?

Featured Replies

I used my new Lews TP today and noticed something i'm not used to.  I am using #50 PP sllck 8 braid and i'm not sure if I spooled too much on or not but the line is rubbing the thumb screw.  Now i'm much sure if its suppose to or not but it does and I can hear the braid rubbing the bar and I can feel a little resistance when I reel. Could it be I put too much line on? I bought 150 yrds  of the PP and it says the reel will hold 120 yards, and I didnt use all the spool. I figured I used right at 120 or less. Any info please, thanks.

braid dosnt lay as smooth as regular mono or fluoro on a spool, it takes up more room... so thts why it seems like you should be fine with 120 yds but your not. take however much off until it quits rubbing and you'll be golden! and enjoy that TP, there one hellva reel when you get them dialed.

Ty for the response, you are right this things casts amazing!  5-10 MPH winds dead in my face today and no backlash, plenty of distance, amazing reel.

It does get even better, but you should never fill a spool so full the line rubs on anything but the level wind guide or the rod guides!! good luck with a great reel!!
