Buggs Island

Featured Replies

Fished last Saturday for my annual "Take My Dad Fishing Somewhere He's Never Fished" Father's Day present.

Water is up higher than I've seen it in the last three years.  Obviously a good thing.

Made a ton of passes on a cove I've always had luck on near Clarksville.  Was in the shade and kept dropping a natural colored senko next to the trees and getting fish after fish.  Largest was near 3 pounds which is good for Buggs.

Put my old man on his biggest bass on artificial (he's big on his nightcrawlers).

Had a great day all in all.  If anyone is fishing there before they drop the water, FISH THE TREES.  No matter where we went every time I pitched against a tree I caught a fish.

Note...we did stay up lake all day.  Don't know how conditions are below Clarksville.  Stained to muddy above town.

Kirby, we call it "in the bushes" on Buggs.

When the water gets to 302 and higher we say we are going to fish the bushes, meaning we did what you did, fish the bushes.

We usually throw a brush hog into the bushes but any plastic will work.

Great report. Wonderful reading your dad caught a big one. And a three pound bass on Buggs is an excellent catch.

If you want the phone number and web page to check out the water depth let me know and I can send them to you.

Yeah I know you call it "in the bushes", but I was literally pitching against trees all day long.

I know the web page too.

My arsenal of lures is totally off as I haven't had any time for bass fishing in the last year.  Mostly catfished last year when I was staying down in Clarksville for work.
