So I was walking around in this wooded area(land owner unknown) behind my house in the city, well there is a little body of water! My guess is it is just formed by rain? It's about half a football field size, and it's really a strange spot for water! Well anyways after walking around all the fallen trees and what not I see the water and I follow it. Well half way down I see a boat!? Decent size boat, no motor and bad condition!? Again this little body of water isn't something you would take a boat on and there is no possible way to get a vehicle down to it, I could not see if there where tags on it! I don't think a storm landed it there due to all the trees and cover!? My guess is somebody is walking it over there, but what is the need for that? A lot of days have passed since I last went out there, well where I live we had a tornado hit town but our side of town did not! Well after that happened I looked back there and it's clear that just the winds and storms caused some havoc over there! Well later I went down there, and I remind you this is probably 6-10 months later, the place looks rearranged not a thing looks familiar! I found the water and followed it down, and there the boat sat in its same spot! The only difference was the front end was slightly further down into the water, I think due to earlier rain! Well I still could not see tags from where I stood! I'm really wanting a boat and this one seems almost abandoned!? How do/can I approach this? I would be willing to take it in and fix it up and pay for necessary boat requirements! Thanks for the help!

Texas, is that a catfish you are holding in your photo?

You need to catch one of those Texas lunkers and update your pic.

As for the boat, is there anyway you can get to it, safely, and write down the registration number?

You can then contact the Texas game and fisheries to find out if anyone is listed as the owner. If they can't tell you maybe the county's treasurer's office has the data.

If you cannot get to the boat to salvage it I would think the owner has also tried and it is either too difficult or too expensive.

Keep us posted on what you find out and please be safe.

If you place yourself in peril trying to get the boat's registration numbers the boat is not worth it.

I think the cost of getting the boat out, getting any title work or registration, buying a trailer, motor, seats, and having all the other work done to it. Itd probably be best to just let it stay there

Not to mention you say the land owner is unknown, which means you are trespassing, which means any form of getting in contact with the property owner to retrieve it would let him know you were trespassing.
