Been reading the forums here the last few weeks, getting some good info. Don't have any way to explore the Potomac but have been going to Riverbend park above Great Falls the last 2 weekends more for convenience and not being aware of other places. Any got any areas I can check out on eitherside of the river? Caught a few smaller smallies last night on tubes but would enjoy checking some other areas out. Any help would be appreciated.

You can fish by the Reagan Airport, you can find a lot of spots around that area BUT remember you need a DC lic. to fish that area. The only fish I see people pull at that side of the reiver is catfish they are there and some good size ( not monsters ) but good size.

 

Google " Four Mile Run VA " it is around the Reagan too.

mostly geared toward the urban fly fisherman, but even if you only use spinning/casting gear it will give you an idea of some good spots and local knowledge.

Thanks.  I ended up buying Steve Moore's Shoreline Fishing book and it has a ton of great info on different locations to check out. Now I just need a boat/kayak to get to some of the areas I'm interested in.
