Popping retrieve on baits works wonders

Featured Replies

Ive been using a Dropshot on an area where are lots of Huge boulders, some the size of a small car.Of course being in such an area, you have a tendency to get hung up when using a DS.

More than 1 time recently I have had the experience of getting hung up and trying to "pop" the snag loose.

Immediately after the snag was freed,a fish smashed the bait. I even went as far as "popping" the bait when it wasnt snagged, and had the exact same thing happen. So now when I do my DS retrieve, ill shake for a few, drag(reel up the slack) shake,POP,let it settle, lower my rod tip to let the bait fall to the bottom naturally,POP(Not necessarily all in that order It seems to work, like the fish are watching the bait and anytime something erratic happens it triggers a strike.

If you havent done so already, give"popping" a try.
