Chatterbait type baits

Featured Replies

So these are very versatile, ive heard people say.

Ive heard you can fish em like a Spinnerbait,a Jig or a swimming Jig.

Anyone ever put a craw trailer on them and crawled the bottom like a normal jig and pig combo, with success? Or are these better with a faster retrieve?

There is actually a version of the lure that's made specifically for flipping/pitching.

I never want to use a heavy trailer on a Ch-bait as I am afraid it will mess up the action of the lure - when these things first came out - my take was that the heavy vibration tended to spook the fish and caused them to hold back - I overcame this by doing what I called the "yo-yo"(pulling up on the lure and then letting it drop back down - often I would get bites on the fall).

Airborne, you are correct, fish it like a spinnerbait (same rod), or a swimming jig.  Everyone has their own take on trailers, to include none.  You just have to experiment to see what works at the moment.  I often use a 3.5" soft belly swimbait on mine.

I fish it with a crawdad trailer quiet often on a karu vibrashock.  Not usually flipping laydowns, but I like to throw it to rocks, let it sink and then rip it off the bottom a few feet and let it sink and just take that retrieve back.  It looks like a craw fleeing.
