Pond Rock Bass

Featured Replies

I posted a topic around a week ago about trying out a golf course pond for some largemouth and yes, there are largemouth in the pond, but while going for them, I caught a few rock bass between 6-8" long. I was surprise that there were rock bass in the small pond. Do you guy think someone put them in there? I didnt think they liked the pond setting as much as largemouth bass, but they were hitting a 5" trick worm more than the other bass lol.

Either someone put them in there or birds transported them.

Are you sure they aren't warmouth or green sunfish? Commonly mistaken.....if they are rock bass, I'd be surprised....

Im almost certain that they are rock bass. I looked up both the warmouth bass and green sunfish and the bass that im catching is much lighter in color with the red eyes. Next time I catch one from there, Ill definitely take a picture.

Lots of rockbass in NY, I would not doubt it one bit that you are catching rockies. Good eating fish if you can get them 8"+.

I should've considered the location....around my parts, rock bass are in the rivers almost exclusively....
