what hook size is best to use when replacing the hooks on jitterbug?

i've got some size 4 round bend treble gammies... they look about right?

I don't know what is "best", but I've had good results and been satisfied with #6 for 3/8 oz. and #4 for 5/8 oz.

I use red #4 Owner Stingers.

another thing thats good for Jitterbugs and Zara spooks is to add a split ring between that metal hanger that comes on them, and the new hook and it will give the fish less of a chance to get leverage to throw the hook. It will also make changing hooks easier the next time.

Absolutely!! Cut off the old hooks. Do not remove the hook hanger screws. Add the split rings then add the new hooks.
