Really I know there are several threads on this topic, just not this hook imparticular so i wanted to make it interesting, thus the title. 

The Trokar flipping hook to me is an old school trout line, I am not sure what you could punch with that?  It is honestly a hook i would only use to long line.  It is very wide, angled so as not to ride well(or at all) with punching baits, and has a rubber piece at the eye that only tears baits, does not hold them.   Am I losing my marbles here or is this a terrible hook for the application???

On the other hand, if you melted lead around it, in the right mold it would make a decent jig hook.

That is the style now for punching/flipping by the Pros. I believe one of the first was the RI BMF and it was very popular so others have followed suit with the same round bend straight shank with a plastic keeper like that. They are actually tying a snell knot on them so the force is directly in line. It might not be for you, but its the norm for punching hooks now.

Although I hate the Trokar hook itself, this style is very suitable for punching and flipping. Helps with your hook up ratio, the plastic black piece holds the bait in place so it does night slight back up. It does result in more torn baits after a fish or two, but also keeps you from having to readjust the bait on every cast.

I agree with the style somewhat, in that i tied snelled and did like that aspect.  What i dont like is the round bend does not allow the bait to be t-rigged hardly, and that bait keeper did not keep bait.   Any how, much better success with others, guess that hook is just not my cup of tea.
