Yes.

Spinning. It is much easier to let out line to get the bait "down there". It is also much more cost effective than true finesse casting reels. Lastly the drags on spinning reels seem to prtotect light line situations better from pulling the hooks out or losing fish. Sure it is fun to try it on casting gear but even with some of the better finesse pairings I still prefer spinning gear.

I've used both. I prefer spinning as well for reasons mentioned by kickerfish. Its definitely possible on bc gear though.

I use bc for everything. Only own 1 spinning and I haven't actually caught a fish on it (because I don't use it). I prefer everything about bc's. just my opinion

IMO personal preference, whatever you feel more comfortable with.I personally use spinning but can do the same thing w/ baitcasting.

As already mentioned, the answer for me is yes.  For the standard light line, smaller bait applications spinning is my choice. For conditions that require heavier line and weights (and often bigger baits) I prefer baitcast.
