I am sort of new to fishing jigs. This may sound like a stupid question, but how to put the trailer on the jig. Thanks for the help.

Just thread it on the hook and bring the point out the top of the trailer. You want to make sure it's on as straight as possible.  If it's a chunk, you can either thread it on the same way, or just kind of nose hook it.
