Hi everyone, 

 

I posted another topic seeking advice to what my next reel should be. After some deliberation, i decided upon the Lew's Tournament pro in a 6.4 ratio.

 

My current set up is a Shimano Citica 200G5 paired with a Gloomis 6'6 MH-F Gl2.

 

I primarily do most of my fishing from the shore, in a wide open area, with no cover whatsoever. I've noticed that i cannot really cast senkos and lightweight lures as far as i would like. I've realized that my current set up is probably not the best for that application. Hence, the new Lew's reel. Im probably going to convert my current setup for crankbaits.

 

Im looking for a rod to pair with the Tournament Pro, and would appreciate any advice that come my way. Id like this to be my all around rod. Im thinking about getting something in the 7'+ range and maybe a M-F.

 

Some rods that I am considering are the St.Croix mojo bass, Abu Garcia Veritas, BPS Carbonlite.

 

Let me know what you guys think, and what your choices might be. They don't need to be limited to the ones i've mentioned above, but once again, id like to try to keep it at around $120 or lower.

Thanks, ill check those out. Since i already have a 6'6 mh-f rod should i get a 7'+ M-f or should i stick with the mh-f. Will it make a difference on casting distance? and if so how much?

If you're going to throw Senkos, M-F would be my recommendation.

 

Slightly off topic, I would recommend a spinning reel as well.

Can't say by how much, but....all else being equal....a 7' rod while cast further than a 6'6" rod.

 

EDIT:  I agree a 7' MF (or even longer in same action) would do a better job of launching the lighter baits than a MHF.

since I already have the loomis in a 6'6 MH-F, should i get a 7'+ M-F, and just use the loomis as my "all purpose rod", or should i consider getting a 7'+ MH-F.
