Need Some Advice

Hey guys, new to this board and fairly new to serious bass fishing(grew up on the beach so most of my fishing growing up was saltwater).Started fishing a 30 acre lake in Aiken, South Carolina out behind one of my coaches house. Fished it 3 times over the past two weeks and haven't had much success. Its still been very hot here so I know the bite is going to be slow, but not this slow. The lake is pretty murky, grassy banks, backs of coves are shallow with some stumps and laid down trees. I worked a spinner bait up and down the banks today and did just OK. Any advice on what to do this time of year would be great. Thanks!
