This season by trial and error, feel, advice from forums members I have settled on using braid. My set up are as follows.

Spinning Reels 10 lb Power Pro (Drop Shot, Finesse, T Rig)

Bait Casters 30 Lb Power Pro (Cranks, T Rig, C Rig)

Bait Casters 50 LB Power Pro (Spinners, Frogs, Cranks)

What baits would you throw on the above lines?

i only use 50/12 and 20/6 power pro.

what you throw has more to do with the rod youre using than the line strength.

Although I am an advocate for Power Pro - I have learned that it is not the ideal set up for all techniques.  I use PP exclusively for jigs and C-rigs (with a mono leader).  But it can be difficult to get a good hook set with cranks, jerk baits, etc.  It is not good for topwater lures (possible exception - buzz baits).  I do have one set up with Power Pro for T-rigs, but use a 6' + flouro leader.

Power Pro works well for detecting the bite, but it does displace more water and thus can be a hinderance for finesse type techniques.

How is it that power pro displaces more water?  could you please explain this?

since making the switch to power pro , i use it for everything. topwater , t rigs , splt shot , shakey head , drop shotting , spinners , cranks - and i have no issues. i do use a leader though.

i have not tried any other braids because i dont see a reason to.

Spinning reels ---8# mono equivelent diameter superline-- all light to medium presentations.

Spinning rigs---6# mono equivelent diameter superline for ultra light applications

Baitcasting-- 8# mono equivelent diameter superline for lipped cranks, lipless cranks, treble hook topwaters, light jigs and Tx rigs

Baitcasting-- 10# mono equivelent diameter superline for heavy Tx rigs, C-Rigs, single or double hook topwaters (floating and swimming frogs) on medium cover, heavy jigs.

Baitcasting --12 # mono equivelent superline for floating and swimming frogs in heavy cover and mats.

I use nylon mono for some presentations where line stretch is needed-spinning and casting

I use fluorocarbon line for some presentations were line stretch and senitivity are needed. both rigs

Spinning: 8lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid for small finesse lures.

Spinning: 20lb Power Pro w/ 12lb fluoro leader for drop shots, giggy heads, wacky rigging, flick shakes.

Casting: 30lb Power Pro w/12lb-14lb fluoro leader for Texas rigs and jigs.

Casting: 40lb Power Pro w/12lb-14lb fluoro leader for plastic swimbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, jigs, topwaters.

Casting: 40lb Power Pro for frogs and flipping. If I'm doing neither of those I'll put on a 14lb fluoro leader and use it as a bigger Texas rigged worm or jig rod.

Casting: 12lb Fluorocarbon for cranking and jerkbaits.
