H2O Xpress Mystic

Featured Replies

Has anyone used this. I was just at Academy buying my third mettle when I decided to do something crazy and feel the mystic. What an awesome reel for the price, and it would be sweet during the rod riot.  What's your experience with this reel.

I have to say, it's the lightest reel in the $100 range I've ever felt. It's no mgxtreme, but it was lighter than the revo s sitting right next to it.

Academy site weighs it at 5.8 oz. My question is, where the hell are they saving the weight in a $129.99 reel?

It's gotten pretty decent reviews so far. It's got a few years to prove its self first, but if all else fails, academy has about the best d**n return policy in the country.

The Mystic uses the same frame as the Menace does, and I can tell you that the Menace is pretty darn small.  Use of aluminum gears & drive shaft would save quite a bit of weight, and the carbon-fiber handle with EVA knobs has got to be a lot lighter than the Menace's aluminum handle with rubber knobs.  I'd also hazard a guess that the drag key washer might be thick aluminum rather than steel.

Would y'all go with this reel over the Revo S.

After the hell I went through with all 3 Gen 3 Revo S's, I'd go with anything over them. Now the Gen 2 Revo is a different story.

I still haven't seen any negative reviews on the Mystic yet. I haven't searched real hard either, but if a reel has a history of issues, it usually shows up on the various forums pretty quick. There is only 3 reviews on it that I've seen at Academy's website. All gave it good points.

Just to add, I will be using my Core on my jerkbait rod for now, but when I can afford a new swim jig rod, I have 3 reels I am looking at putting on it. The Mystic is one of those 3 along with a 50E or Scorpion 1000.

With the holidays and the "off season" coming, you could possibly get a heck of a reel for $129 (or less) on the secondary market.

Yeah, but sometimes the fishing gods grant us with tackle priced much less than its worth, and I think that, this would go right beside the Berkley Havoc baits on a list of these miracles.

All though it would be hard to pass up a $130 chronarch.

I wish I had the money now, but I'll have to wait.

I'm sorry to bring this back but I have two more question. Do these have better quality bearings than the mettles? Are they heavy enough to balance out with an ***?
