Rained This Morning, Good For Fishing This Afternoon?

Featured Replies

So it rained here until about noon. Was thinking of going fishing in about an hour. Is this a good idea? Water temp was 76 yesterday, air temp is 68 right now. Any suggestions what to tie on when we first get there. Water is not clear. Plenty of growth along the banks.

Thanks,

Brent

Frogs always work well

I would go out. Fishing in conditions like these are learning experiences and will help you become a better angler down the road. I would try a white spinnerbait or a white chatterbait for something fast moving and for something slow say a black & blue jig with a trailer or a black berkley power worm.I start out rigging the power worms weightless (wind permitting) for a slow fall rate and then i will try adding some weight so they fall quicker in case the bass are in a chasing mood.

Fishing before or right when it starts raining is a good time. It knocks what bugs are flying around in the water so the bass are usually feeding pretty good. Not to mention it oxygenates the water making them a little more active. I have always had outstanding luck on topwater, like a jitterbug, frog or pop-r. Never had much luck after a rain.
