North Carolina Kayak Bass Fishing

Featured Replies

I'm new to kayak bassin and the Gastonia, NC area. I want to hit the water tomorrow morning but don't know many places. Any recommendations for some good spots to kayak fish? Don't really want to hit the bigger lakes (Wylie, Norman) alone--I just got into kayak fishing and want to get more comfortable first.

Well one spot you may check is Mountain Island Lake.  It's the lake that is between Wylie and Norman on the Catawba river.  There's some good fish in there and I've fished it a few times in a kayak.  It does get a pretty decent bit of pressure but it's a good place to get some fishing in.  One thing though is if the wind is blowing pretty good out there it can be rough for a kayak.

Also, I've come across a couple of the guys from the group below.  They are a nice group and may help point you in the right direction.
