Baitfish?

Featured Replies

I was fishing my usual spot which is a 20 acre pond in Chesapeake, Ohio.  I noticed all of the bass were killing the baitfish right next to the shore (inches away).  These were tiny little minnows they were busting on.  I just couldn't tell what they were.  I have only seen shad once and they were bigger and I think I remember seeing flashes everytime the school would move away from the predators.  I didn't see any flash or silver in these fish.  I do know bluegill are in there, would that be it?

I put on a rapala matching the length of the baitfish. I carry the 2" rapala original floater in baby bass green, black and In blue. I seen small pickerel attacking a school of smaller bass fry and I put n the baby bass rapala and picked off the pickerel till it was calm. I realised the pickerel. I just couldn't handle my future catches being eaten by the pickerel. I played God for that moment but it didn't feel good maybe I was wrong.
