Hi guys,

 

In the france there are 8 hydropower stations without a fish ladder and so the atantic salmon can´t swim up the river rhein. 100 years ago the river rhein was the most productive salmon river in europe with over 1 million salmon a year. the swam from the coast till the swiss,thats a very long way. And now the wwf want to make this hydropower stations passable for the salmon, but this is the decision by the french gouverment.

 

So we have to support this intention.

 

Please help the european salmon to get there old spawning ground back.

I was inspired by the video on this site! There appears to be a caring and support for fisheries in Europe that's often lacking here in the US. I'll certainly support this......I see there's an international coalition for returning salmon to the Rhine. Just curious......what kind of support are you getting so far in the US?

One of the guides who takes me out flyfishing for trout and salmon every spring is Kevin Tracewski (Tracewski Fishing Adventures). He's an instructor at the University of Maine in Orono, ME and is very active in conservation methods for these fish in our state. He's written a book. I'll forward your information to him, as he's actually in a position to help get the word out a bit more. It's amazing when I think that your efforts to help fisheries are international because Europe has a shared sense of responsibility for the health of these species and the environment as a whole.....many countries together! I so wish that America would join more in this kind of vision. Keep going
