I've decided that, that for three days I will disclose three new rigs I've discovered (two of which I've developed myself.)   Day three's rig is the squid rig.

Take a starfish bait/small pre-made octo rig and your favorite finesse worm.  Heat up the head of the worm and the midsection of the starfish rig (over a burner) and attach the two. This rig is great in overpressured waters.  In a pressured Izaak Walton lake near my house with stained water, this allows me to use a new finesse rig, that, with more appendages, displaces more water and provides a more inconspicous, yet still unthreatening profile.  On a shakey head it is seductive and on a dropshot rig, with more surface area than a regular fluke/worm, it moves more with less current.

Just one for today...THE BATHTUB TEST

Fill up your bathtub and take those new lures you have into the throne room.  Tie some line to The bait and test it out.  This allows you to see its action and what cadence, retreive, rigging, speed, and cover the lure will work in.  If you have a pool, even better (don't use the lure for 24 hours after so as to let the chlorine evaporate) This will give you more confidence and education as to its best uses.
