I love throwing the Zara Spook and do pretty well with it. I know to let the fish take it before setting the hook. When i saw the Yum Money Hound i thought this product was just what i needed for the "weedy" areas where my spook won't work. Well, I'm getting a ton of hits on it but havent boated a fish yet. What size / type of hook are you using? Are you modifying it any to allow the hook to seperate from the lure better? To me it just doesnt seem like the money hound will collapse enough to get the hook out far enough from the bait.

I want to like this lure but its getting frustrating not being able to get one hooked. Hopefully someone will say they have done well on it and have some suggestions.

I bought a package of these myself but still have not tried them. I have read some similar comments as what you are saying. Did you rig with a large hook? I think it called for a 5/0 for the small one and a 7/0 on the larger one?

My experience so far.It is hard to hook fish with it. The only thing you can really do is to not skin hook the point. Use at least a 5/0 for the small one. I like the owner wide gap plus. This is about my favorite hook for thick bodied baits.Unfortuantely they don't make a 7/0. I've used the Gammy 7/0 monster hook for the big one. I recently got some gammy G-mag oversized hooks but haven't tried it on the hound yet.

Just an idea I had. I am wondering about some of these double frog hooks they got out now to use on this thing if it would work or not.....

have you tried using with a weedless hook but rigging it up side down where the is exposed hook point is pointed downwards. This will give you a better chance of hookup since the stike is coming from below going up. More chance of getting the business end of the hook.

Not only that, but I was also just thinking that MAYBE you could use one of the screw on versions and straddle the bait with the two hooks riding on the sides. IN THEORY. It would be cool to check out if I owned any of those style hooks.
