Great Day Throwing Red-Eye Shad

Featured Replies

Today I went up to a "pond" and caught around 15 bass throwing a red eye shad in bleeding gizzard shad. (I know some people dont like ponds but hey I just moved up to Illinois from California and we never had ponds so this is a treat .) There are a lot of brush piles from trees falling down in the water and its easy to get hung up and since there are a bunch of sticks that knick my line so i decided to use braid. I usually never use braid for any type of crank bait or rattle trapbut i decided to give it a shot. The only reel i had that even had braid had 65lb power pro but i decided to still use it and it worked amazingly. I would throw it over a brush pile and burned it back. Well doing this was AMAZING in two hours i caught 15 the biggest being 2lbs but it was fun regardless of size and thats all that counts.

You found the pattern!

Congrats.

Everyone green counts so no problem with their size.

Now keep the pond's location to yourself and have many more hours of fishing fun.

Man nice job. I never have luck with the Red Eye Shad I've only caught like 5 fish ever on it, my buddy swears by it though.
