Need help identifying some specific sunglasses!

Featured Replies

I am not usually a sucker. However I was unaware that it is common, (or legal?) to counterfeit sunglasses. If anybody owns an authentic pair of Costa Corbinas, or maybe just recent Costas in general, you could really help me out. Please give information only if you bought them in a well known store. What does it say on the inside of the frames, right temple and left temple? Is the lettering raised?

Any other tips on identifying counterfeit Costas? Any stories about counterfeit glasses you were tricked into buying (to make me feel better :'()? Here are the exact glasses and seller (he had more than one pair) - http://cgi.ebay.com/Costa-del-Mar-Corbina-Tortoise-Blue-Mirror-580-Sunglass-/320606650052?pt=US_Sunglasses&hash=item4aa5a53ec4#ht_2535wt_1139

I am not sure if they are fake, but after purchasing them stumbled on lots of stories about fake costas. The seller has 100% positive feedback, but I know that doesn't mean that they are real. He is also USA based... at least he's not from Taiwan or something.

My Costa's have raised lettering ("Costa Del Mar") on the inside of the arms but it probably differs from model to model. I got them at BPS.

That seller looks legit to me, but it's not that much of a discount, so I'd lean towards paying a few bucks extra and getting them at a reputable store.

Yeah I just returned them. I am now trying to decide on the best pair for $150, and I will buy them factory direct, to be sure of authenticity.

Mine are the 'Brine' model and I really like them. Unfortunately I managed to drive over them last week (oops...) so I'm down to my backup $15 pair until I get them repaired. (Sadly the Costa lifetime warranty doesn't cover stupidity)
