Im new to bass fishing and this area. I tried fishing some places no luck. I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere to fish around here? I dont have a boat to i fish off the bank. Anything will help! You can also private message me

I'm in north Jersey, but there is a site of the NJ department of Wildlife that has a list of fishable freshwater bodies of water by county.

Hay Mitch,   I've hit ponds from Rt 37 up to Rt 537, It's hit or miss, couldn't say if they have any note worthy fish or not because like you I'm stuck on the bank. Have caught fish in many of the lil ponds and lakes.

Download Google Earth, And just type in where you live, And you will see many bodies of water.

I used to go crabbing with a light at night in that bay, parents had a place in Seaside. About 47 years ago.

I would look for smaller bodies of water like ponds streams that run into larger bodies like rivers and lakes to start with. If you are new or at least newer to bass fishing starting at these type places takes the intimidation factor out of the equation. Of course this year winter doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon, but in the mean time I would go to your local tackle shop and talk to anyone there. If you explain your situation you may be pleasantly surprised by how many people are willing to talk about fishing. I've found that small mom and pop shops are far easier to do this in and have a far greater understanding of what goes on in that area. The big stores like Dicks, BPS and the like are knowledgeable about tackle and gear they usually have a limited amount of info on the local waters. The last tip I would give is this, keep it simple. Don't try to get fancy or cute, use what you are comfortable in using. Once you get a better understanding of what bass want in the smaller ponds and such, then take the knowledge gained there and translate that to ever larger places like rivers and lakes.
