Baitcast Reel For 150 Or Less- Tatula Or Lews? Help

Recommended Posts

I don't own a boat so I do mostly open bank fishing and I can cast without obstructions. I'm using tx rigs, jigs up to 3/8, weightless flukes, jerk baits, weightless senkos, and some medium size cranks. Looking to replace a Johnny Morris black on one of my set ups. I've read about the Lews and the new Tatula and both seem great. Looking for suggestions on which to get. I also have a citica 200e and a Bass pro qualifier.

I have a Lew's Speed Spool and it is way more reel than they charge for. Super smooth, quiet, mag brakes work well and only backlashes when I do a stupid. I throw 5/16oz up to 5/8oz on mine with 40lb Power Pro and get great distance. I've no experience with the Tatula so I can't help you there.

from shore distance is key, the tws on the tatula should be able to cast further than the comparable lews. from a boat its a toss up but from shore i go with tatula.
