I just got in two new rods, a 7'2 MH XF Shimano Crucial, and a 7'3 M F *** Black. For reels I have a Gen 2 Revo SX and a Diawa T3 Ballistic. So far im thinking the Revo on the shimano because its a little heavier, so it may balance a little better. I plan on using the Shimano for jigs, but Im thinking I could throw flukes and other soft plastics on the ***? I figured the smaller profile and lightness of the T3 would work better with the ***, and may cast the lighter baits better. Any input is apreciated, what would you pick?

In my experience, ***'s tend to prefer lighter reels. I'm with you on your pairings so far. 

Friend who sold me his *** said the Daiwa Alphas size reel was a good fit.  Threw a Purple Alphas on it.  Feels great.  Haven't tried any other reel yet.

Sounds good to me, I agree about the Crucial.  Very good rod, but if you have a lightweight reel it gets tip heavy. 

What are the ratios on the reels? 

The Revo is 6.3 or 6.4 and the T3 is 7.1:1. Thanks for all the Input guys.

If I was only worrying about the reel ratios I think that's what I would do too. But ergonomically I think setting it up the other way will be more comfortable.
