Looking For Small Fish Finder.

Featured Replies

I am fixing up my grandpas old bass boat and looking into getting a small fish finder mostly to see the structure. What is a small cheap fish finder? Do I really need one just for this? Any other way to see structure?

A traditional sonar will indicate the depth and bottom shape as you navigate. It will also show "stuff" that is in the water column. You can get a basic unit for less than $100.

Increase your budget and you can get more performance and technology.

What "structure" do you want to see and how do want it displayed?

This images shows three technologies.

Lower left is traditional 2D sonar

Upper left is Down Imaging

Right side is Side Imaging.

From top to bottom of the above list, the price range increases:

I have a Lowrance 4X Elite on my kayak and I really like it for about $100. Like Wayne said the more you spend the more you get.

I'm not wanting too much. I have the money to buy it but I just want to find brush piles, trees, rocks, etc. My grandpa was a guide and he has a lot stashed away but I'm just looking for something small and easy. I looked at a few of the

Humminbirds you showed. I will probably end up going the free way and have a bigger one. I just wanted to know just in case and if I got a small one for my front deck.
