I recently picked up a Lews Tournament SS MG 5:1:1 and I am looking to pair it with a crankbait Specific rod. I have allot of crankbaits, Arashis, Strike Kings, River2Sea, Reaction Strike, that vary from 1/4oz to 1 1/4oz. I admit I am not the best when it comes to tossing lighter than 3/8oz lures with a asting reel, so I usually go with a spinning rod. I mostly fish from a dock or bank, but have some access to a boat. I am also limited on space the longest 1 piece rod I can fit im my vehicle is 7'. I have been looking at the Mojo Bass Glass Target Crankster for a bit, I like that it is glass, and the range of lures it will handle is decent. I have also been looking at the original Mojo Bass Crankbait rod which is graphite, but it is a little longer, and handles lures up to 1oz. I fish at a local lake almost exclusively, it is a smaller lake, with a muddy bottom, and lots of milfoil. Because of this I use a good amount of squarebills, and shallow crankbaits, but I do fish other lakes that I are deep and rocky. I have also been looking at the Pinnacle Perfecta DCHC 5 7' MH Moderate model dch5-701CAMHCB.

What are the advantages of glass or graphite in weeds? Is there another rod I should be looking at? Also I am looking for a decent (preferably under $100) Topwater rod, in the 3/8-1oz MH rating, I have looked at the Vendetta 6'6" MH XF also I found a Veritas 6'9" MH XF for $70 at a local shop, I am on the short side but I can use a 6'6" rod to walk the dog without issue, I am using a Revo SX 6:3:1 for my topwater reel.

I really love my mojo glass rod for crankbaits.  I prefer glass over graphite for cranking because I lost more fish with graphite rods and the treble hooks.  Glass keeps them pinned.

 

That veritas should work great for topwater.

Thanks, I am leaning towards the Mojo Glass Target, and the Veritas. I like that the Mojo Glass Target is 6'10" I have shoulder issues, and long rods (especially over 7') wear me out. I wish it was rated for 1/4-1oz, but in all honesty I rarley toss anything over 3/4, and I have a Cabelas XML H F thats good from 3/8-2oz I use for jigs, and it handles the heavy lures fine, just need to reel slower since I have a Lews BB1 7:1:1 on it

I have the 6'10 rod.  It was introduced last year to compliment the 7'4" and the 7"8" rods.  I have those also.  The 6'10, I use for smaller crankbaits like square bills and shallow divers.  Based on what you stated, I think you'll love the rod.

Thanks gripnrip, I will be picking up the Mojo Bass Glass Target, the price is right, for how far I can cast and my height, I really dont need much longer if a rod. Gonna take a ride and see if I cant find one local, if not TW, BPS, and even Dicks has them.

You'd be crazy not to get a Powell diesel. Love love love mine especially since tackle warehouse had them for 54.88.

I'm a die hard crankbait bait fisherman especially square bills and the diesel rod is hard to beat. After I got this one I ended up ordering 6 more powell rods!!!!!

MBC70MHM graphite, it'll handle the ratings on the rod and a little bit more. I still use 2 of these and won't let them go.
